Ali Hall hostel is dedicated for the Male Students of UCE&T by BZU. The Ali Hall hostel was completed in 2003 in half portion for the Male Students of UCE&T which consist, Department of Civil Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Architectural Engineering, Mechanical Engineering and Textile Engineering. The second portion was completed in 2008 for allotment to the Engineering students. Now it consist 256 cubical rooms.

Female Students are residing in Aisha & Maryam Hall hostels.

1 - Hostel Administration

2 - Admission Procedure
  1. Admission in the hostels cannot be claimed as a matter of right even if the candidate is a bonafide student of this University.
  2. Admission in the hostel will be strictly on merit basis.
  3. The accommodation will be offered to the eligible applicants subject to the availability.
  4. Since accommodation in hostel is limited, the University Authority may not be able to provide accommodation to all the applicants.
  5. At the beginning of each academic year, a resident shall be required to produce a certificate on the prescribed form from the Head of the concerned department to the effect that he is on the rolls of the department concerned in order to get the allotment of his seat renewed.
  6. The grant of admission to a programmed of study in the B. Z. University would not ensure allotment of hostel accommodation.
  7. Only those students who are on the regular rolls of the B. Z. University and are enrolled for a degree programmed as a full-time student may be allowed admission in the hostel.
  8. Priority will be given to those newly admitted students, in a degree program, who have not previously availed the hostel facility at the same degree level.
  9. Those students, whose hotel admission has been cancelled because of misbehavior/misconduct, violation of hostel rules, involvement in undesirable activities and misrepresentation shall not be eligible for hostel admission/allotment.
  10. After admission to a hostel the students shall come under the direct supervision of the Hostel Administration for the purposes of residence and its discipline.
  11. The Hostel Administration has the right to refuse admission to student, whose past conduct in the hostel was not satisfactory.
  12. All resident shall produce a clearance certificate from the Superintendent through the Warden before appearing in the examination failing which they will not be issued their examination roll number/rules card/degree etc.
  13. All the hostel dues at the time of admission shall be deposited, in the Habib Bank limited, New Campus Branch within one week of the allotment of a seat in the Hostel and through the Bank Challan supplied and duly signed by the hostel office, failing which the allotment shall be cancelled. The Warden is empowered to relax the period up to one month in case of emergency.
  14. All whole time regular students admitted directly to the University teaching departments for a regular course of study will be eligible to apply for the accommodation in the University Hostels, provided that the Worthy Vice-Chancellor may, at his discretion, permit a student from abroad, who joins the University class for a Diploma / Certificate course to reside in a University Hostel.
  15. Applications in quadruplicate for allotment of seats in the University Hostels shall be submitted to Principals of the UCE&T. While recommending the names, the Head of the concerned department shall forward all the application forms to the Warden / Superintendent of the hostel. In case, the seat is allotted to a candidate, the Superintendent shall send one application form to the Accounts Branch of the University, the second shall be kept by the Superintendent of the hostel, the third form shall be sent to the Warden hostel whereas, the fourth form shall be sent to the concerned Department.
  16. Students admitted in the hostel should pay all the dues of six months in advance through Bank Challan in HBL New Campus only.
  17. After admission, fee paid will neither be refunded nor transferred to some other head.
  18. The monthly hostel dues shall be paid by the 10 of each month. If they are not paid till 15 of each month, the room will be double locked. The seats of the residents, who fail to pay their dues by the end of the month, may be cancelled.
  19. The Superintendent shall report to the Warden, the names of the residents, who have not paid their dues in the 3 week of each month. The defaulters shall have to leave the hostel. The Warden / Superintendent may, however, allow a further period of grace in exceptional cases.
  20. Hostel / Electric and Mess Securities must be refunded within the Calendar year after cancellation / completion of the session.
  21. Resident student studying 4-years course B.Sc Engineering, he/she will have to pass all papers of 1st year of B.Sc Engineering in one and the same academic session i.e. in 1st or 2nd Annual Examination failing which he/she will cease to be the resident in the University hostel and also will not be eligible/entitled for further admission in the University Hostel in future.
  22. Similarly the resident student of B.Sc. Engineering 2nd year course will have to pass all the papers of 2nd professional B-Pharmacy or 2nd year B.Sc. Engineering in one and the same academic session i.e. in 1st or 2nd Annual Examination failing which he/she will cease to be the resident in the University Hostel and also will not be eligible/entitled for further admission in the University Hostel in future.
Similarly the resident student of 3rd year B.Sc Engineering will also have to pass all the papers of B.Sc Engineering 3rd year in one and the same academic session, i.e. in 1st or 2nd Annual Examination failing which he/she will cease to be the resident in the University Hostel and also will not be eligible/entitled for further admission in the University Hostel in the future.

3 - Hostel Facilities

MOSQUE
Separate mosque facilities have been provided in hostel where Imam leads prayers five times a day.

MESS
Separate mess in hostel is being run by the resident students under the supervision of the Hostel Administration ensuring the quality and hygienic food.

COMPUTER ROOM (AIRCONDTIONED)

A computer room service for higher studies/research is provided in hostel connected with local area network (LAN)/Wireless LAN (WLAN) for resident students with internet connectivity.

COMMON ROOM
The common rooms of the hostel are provided with Television and numerous indoor game facilities such as table tennis, carom board, chess, snooker, billiard etc.

NEWSPAPERS
A large number of English and Urdu Newspapers are provided in the each of the boys hostels. These include Jung, The News, Dawn and Nawa-I-Waqat etc.

GUEST ROOMS (HOSTELS)
Guest rooms are available in the hostel which provides timely comfort to the student’s visitors with the prior permission of Hostel Administration.

TELEPHONE
Telephone extensions from the main exchange of the University having telephone numbers 9210071-74 are available in the hostel Ali Hall Extension is 1715.

ELECTRIC WATER COOLERS WITH FILTERS
Electrical Water Coolers have been installed at various points in all the hostels for provision of filtered chilled water.

SUI GAS HEATERS / LAMPS / AIR COOLERS
Sui gas heaters/Air coolers have been installed in the T.V./Common rooms, Dinning Halls and Mosques of hostel to keep the internal environment warm/cool respectively as per the weather/season.

GEYSERS
A system of hot water supply has been provided in the hostel during the winter season in the washrooms and kitchen.

PLAYGROUNDS & BADMINTON COURT
The facility of outdoor games with adequate playgrounds is available before the hostel. A well-equipped badminton court with lighting facilities is located in hostel to create a healthy atmosphere.

HOSTEL LAUNDRY
A separate Hostel Laundry has been provided inside the Hostel at very minimal rates.

WATER FACILITIES
Twenty-four hours running water is available in the hostel from the main reservoir before the hostel which operates on electric motors.

Following facilities are being shared with BZU main campus.

5 - Disciplinary Rules and Regulations

Rules and Regulations relating to the Hostel Discipline are set by BZU in the chair of Chairman Hall council and Hostels Administration.
  1. Residents are expected to develop the habit of self -discipline. They shall not conduct themselves in a manner, which may interfere with the study and convenience of the fellow residents or injure their feelings. Nothing can make social life truly pleasant except genuine courtesy and mutual consideration.
  2. Rooms must be kept clean and tidy. The glass pane above the entrance of the room shall remain uncovered. No resident is allowed to drive nails in the walls or to disfigure them in any manner.
  3. No dogs and other pets should be brought into the premises of the Hostel.
  4. All residents shall be in the Hostel at 10.30 P.M. The rooms shall be kept open between 10.30 P.M. to 11.00 P.M. to enable the authorities to make attendance. A resident may be permitted to come late at night by the Superintendent /Assistant Superintendent who issues late pass. A resident returning to the Hostel at night after 10.30 P.M. shall sign his name in the Register kept with the Security Guard at the gate, giving the number of his room and the date and time of arrival. Entry into the hostel over the boundary is prohibited.
  5. There shall be no disturbance or noise in the rooms or outside the rooms within the hostel premises. No resident student shall entertain in his room fellow resident or outsiders during the hours between 10.00 P.M. to 06.00 A.M.
  6. The residents must get permission of the Superintendent in written in case they have to absent themselves from the hostel during the night. A fine of Rs. 50/- per night shall be levied for absence without permission. A resident absenting himself from the hostel for a fortnight shall forfeit his hostel seat. The Superintendent in the presence of the Warden and the Assistant Superintendent will open the room allotted to him. The Superintendent shall take all articles found in the room into personal custody.
  7. No resident shall keep a transistor radio set or tape recorder without the permission of the Superintendent and shall not use it in a way causing inconvenience to others.
  8. Playing loud musical instruments in the rooms is not permitted. If violated, Rs. 200/- fine may be charged.
  9. Residents are not allowed to keep with Electric Stoves/Heaters. Any such appliance, found in the possession of a resident may be confiscated. The use of Heaters and Electric Stoves is strictly prohibited. Any resident found infringing this rule may have to pay a fine. Rs. 200 for the first time, Rs. 500 for the second time and cancellation of seat for the third time.
  10. The residents are advised not to keep large sums of money with them. These should be deposited in a Bank. The hostel authorities are not responsible for any theft or loss of valuables left in a cubical or dormitory room.
  11. A resident, indulging in the use of liquor or in gambling practices or found in possession of fire arms or explosives shall be expelled from the hostel.
  12. Complaints against the misbehavior of servants / sweepers may be made to the Superintendent. Residents are not allowed to use abusive language or physical force against them or any others.
  13. A resident shall not change his room without the prior permission of the Superintendent. If allowed one has to deposit the fee of Rs. 100/- in the concerned Hostel’s Common Room Account.
  14. A resident intending to withdraw his name from the Hostel shall make an application in written to the Superintendent who may permit him to leave after clearing the dues from him. The room so vacated shall be reported to the Hostel Superintendent.
  15. No resident is allowed to stay in the hostel after the completion of the regular University Examination. The students, who have to complete their thesis/ dissertations/projects after the completion of the University examination, may be permitted to continue their stay in the hostel on the recommendation of the Chairman of the Department concerned for a period not exceeding one month. In case of more extension permission may be taken from the Vice- Chancellor.
  16. The room must be vacated and the keys handed over to the Superintendent before leaving for the summer vacations or on completion of University examination. Students who fail to comply with this rule will not be allowed hostel accommodation during the succeeding academic year.
  17. All notices about the hostel be pasted on the hostel notice board and shall be considered as read by the residents. Failure to read a notice shall not be accepted an excuse for non-compliance with such a notice.
  18. Students are directed not to tear or remove the notices pasted by the Hostel Administrations; otherwise their hostel seat will be cancelled.
  19. Before a notice or poster, etc. is displayed on the hostel notice board; the Hostel Superintendent shall countersign it.
  20. No meetings other than those of the recognized societies are permitted to be held in the hostel, and no outsiders shall be invited even to the permissible meetings without the prior permission of the Warden / Superintendent.
  21. If a resident is found guilty of breach of Hostel Rules or misbehavior, the Superintendent may impose such fine on him, as he may deem appropriate.
  22. All applications for remission of hostel fine shall be submitted to the Warden through the Superintendent who may pass such orders as he deems fit.
  23. Fine imposed on residents in connection with their residential life shall be charged and deposited in the account of the hostel.
  24. Cases of serious violation of discipline in the hostel will be reported by the Superintendent to the Warden who in consultation with the Hostel Disciplinary Committee (consisting of the Warden, the Superintendent and the Assistant Superintendent) may remove a resident from the hostel or take any other appropriate action.
  25. If any resident creates trouble or disturbs the surrounding houses, he will be liable to loose hostel seat.
  26. Playing indoor games at any place other than the Common Room are prohibited.
  27. The hostel seat of any resident (student) may be cancelled at any time on violation of rules.
  28. Students are not allowed to take mess utensils to their rooms.
  29. Lady visitors are not allowed in the boy’s hostels. Likewise no male visitor is allowed to enter girl’s hostel premises.
FURNITURE
  1. Residents are responsible for the safe custody of the furniture allotted to them. They are not permitted to remove the furniture from one room to another or interchange the furniture.
  2. The resident shall pay any damage done to the furniture supplied to him.
  3. Any one found guilty of causing damage to the University property will not only have to make good the less but will also be liable to disciplinary action including expulsion from the hostel and / or from the University
ELECTRICITY
  1. Light / fan in the room must be put off, when a resident goes outside the room.
  2. The electric installations must not be tempered with in any way. Unauthorized interference with the installation is very risky, as it may cause serious damage. Residents found guilty of such interference are liable to heavy fine / expulsion from the hostel.
  3. Room cooler is not allowed to any hostel room without permission of the Hostel Administration.
  4. The permitted room cooler will deposit their dues in advance one installment.
MESS
  1. All residents must eat in the hostel Mess. In exceptional cases, the Superintendent may relax this rule.
  2. The hostel mess shall be managed by a Mess Committee consisting of the Superintendent as Chairman and three representatives of the residents nominated by the Warden. The Committee shall elect a student as its Mess Manager. The Superintendent / Assistant Superintendent shall be its Treasurer.
  3. The Mess Committee will submit a monthly statement to the Superintendent showing the dues of every resident by the 5 of every month.
  4. No resident is permitted to have private cooking arrangement in the living rooms. If there is no Mess, they may use the kitchen with the permission of the superintendent.
  5. Mess service will be available during the time fixed for each meal. Residents will not demand food after those hours.
  6. Residents attending the Mess and other public places shall be in the proper dress.
  7. Residents must eat in the Mess, which is run on self-service basis. Any person found ordering his meal in a room without the permission of the Superintendent, is liable to be fined.
  8. Servants belonging to the Mess are under the direct control of the Superintendent. Warden is empowered to appoint or dismiss them at his discretion.
GUESTS
  1. No resident, except with the permission of the Superintendent / Assistant Superintendent is allowed to keep a guest in the Hall during the night.
  2. Guest permitted to stay in the hostel can dine in the Mess and not in the Student’s rooms.
  3. Female Visitors to Boys Hostels are not allowed likewise no male visitor is allowed to enter the premises of girl’s hostel.
  4. Every hall is provided with guest room where guests may be received and entertained.
  5. Serving of meals in the guest room is not allowed.
  6. Lady visitor (only mother and real sister) may be received in the guest room and not in any other part of the Hall.
COMMON ROOM
  1. For the recreation of the residents, there is a Common Room in each Hall where arrangements are made for indoor games.
  2. The management of the Common Room shall vest with a Committee consisting of the Superintendent as Chairman, one Assistant Superintendent and a senior resident or prefect nominated by the Warden in the first week of November, every year irrespective of the fact whether the new admissions for that academic year were complete or not. This committee will frame rules for the use of the Common Room which will be subject to the approval of the Warden.
Important Note

If any resident creates any trouble or disturb the surrounding houses, he will be liable to lose his hostel seat. The Warden may in consultation with Superintendents / Assistant Superintendents allow a resident the use of an appliance (other than those provided by the University) on payment of extra electric / gas charges to be determined by the hostel disciplinary committee.
